I am motivated by myself. I have recognized that through Christ my heart, mind, and body are incredibly strong and can fight through anything. Because I know I have this ability I know that I owe it to myself and to Christ to follow through and give everything I have at all things in life. - Michael Showalter, FyeBye Young Entrepreneur's Roundtable: Member FyeBye: What is the name of your business?
Michael:My company's name is Giuseppe's Italian Ice.
FyeBye: How long have you been interested in owning your own business?
Michael: I have had my business for more than a year at the age of 17.
FyeBye: How does your business contribute to the community or practice philanthropy?
Michael: Each year the proceeds from one of our festivals are donated to a non-profit organization. Also, while most festival vendors sell water at $2, we offer it for $1. This is done not only to undercut competition but also to provide festival-goers with an inexpensive way to stay hydrated.
FyeBye: Where did you get the idea to start your business? Who/what inspired you?
Michael: My parents wanted me to start making some income, but I did not want an ordinary “cleaning counters” type job. When I heard that my uncle had started an Italian Ice business in Kentucky and was very successful, it sounded like the perfect job for me.

I am planning to go to college at the University of Michigan for the next four years and then will probably attend graduate school somewhere. Hopefully the business will be running strong and I will have less hands-on work and only do administrative/management stuff.
