Marvetta'S HISTORY


Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Aretha Frankin were all born under the fire of Aries and so was Marvetta.

This singer/songwriter is creative, original and passionate about her music and her life.
Through her music, she speaks of her hopes and struggles. Her musical inspiration has revolved around what she refers to as the 3 big M’s-Money, Music and Men.”

Marvetta reveals “ I love them all, even with the upsets and disappointments that come along. Money, Music and Men have had a huge impact on my life, and it comes out through the lyrics I write.”

She grew up in Bluefield, WV, home of the legendary Stylistics.
Bored with her life. Bored with small hometown. She made a wish that would change
her life. One day, she looked up a perfect, night sky.

“I was going through a lot of hell at the time. So I went outside one night and prayed.
I looked up at the sky and asked that God to get me out of Bluefield and let me sing and travel all over Europe. At the time, I really didn’t think anything would happen.”

But Marvetta’s wish came true. Several months later, she would find herself in Europe, singing and touring all over with the United States Army Band & Chorus in Europe.

“After 4 years of being on the road and singing for a long list of political who‘s who. I decided to return back to the U.S and get my education. I earned a couple of degrees, only to land jobs that stifled my creativity and limited my paycheck. I was working my butt off and not getting anywhere. After I paid all my bills, I was broke and I was tired.” One day, I was at work, and this melody came to me and it wouldn’t go away. It weighed on my mind. I would find myself singing this song as I worked, and when I found enough courage to quit my job, I walked out the door singing the song too.

That’s how I ended up writing Money Money.” I was feeling the pain, the frustration and despair of a single-mom, and I knew had to write about it. I wanted to write a song for all the people who were loosing their homes, hurting at the pump and bleeding ever so severely from the wallet. My music is about empowering people. It’s somewhat spiritual. It’s about living your dream and recognizing who you are.”

Marvetta credits Iyanla Vanzant for inspiring her. “One day I met Iyanla and I told her that I wanted to sing and that not using my talent was driving me insane. Iyanla smiled. She looked at me and responded, ‘So sing. What‘s stopping you?’”

“Watching Barack go for his dream has definitely made me want to run for mine. I told myself, no more excuses.”

Determined to shine, she teamed up with musical pals. Independent Producers Drew Robinson & Shawn Lee. Lee has collaborated with R & B singer Anthony Hamilton.
Up and coming Rapper, Young Prince is featured on the track. The Beginning of Me, the album, will be available on itunes next year. Money, Money will be available for download on itunes October the 15th.

"Right now, I am working on a little bit of everything. I am still finding my style, my voice, and it feels good." I really enjoyed working on hot, dance track "Stalk U."
